Legal Internship at The Wage Justice Center
Location: Los Angeles, CA and hybrid
About Us: The Wage Justice Center (WJC) is dedicated to defending workers’ rights across Southern California to ensure a just and equitable economy for all. Our mission is to eradicate wage theft, foster a future where every worker receives their hard-earned compensation, and promote workplace dignity, respect, and equality. We help low-income workers regardless of immigration status stand up for their rights against unfair employers and those who benefit from wage theft.
Position Overview: We are seeking passionate and dedicated legal interns to join our team. As a legal intern at WJC, you will gain hands-on experience in workers’ rights advocacy, judgment enforcement, and legal representation. This internship offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of workers who typically lack access to legal services and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
•Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents related to wage theft cases.
•Conduct legal research on labor laws and regulations.
•Support attorneys in case management and client interviews.
•Participate in outreach activities, including mobile clinics and educational workshops.
•Help draft and review legal correspondence, worker training and outreach materials.
•Collaborate with the WJC team to develop strategies for effective judgment enforcement.
Qualifications:
•Currently enrolled in a law school program.
•Strong interest in workers’ rights and social justice.
•Exercises initiative, open-minded, and compassionate
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
•Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
