Legal Services for Prisoners with Children’s Policy Director, Endria Richardson, recently spoke about California’s Prop 64 on 94.1 KPFA. Richardson went on the air with Lanese Martin, founder of CannabizWatch, to discuss their thoughts and concerns with the upcoming legislation.
Richardson stated that the initiative will “…reduce arrest, reduce even just the pretext for stopping and arresting people which marijuana gives police and I think that’s probably the biggest thing that legalizing will do in California. I agree that it is complicated. I don’t think that this initiative is going to take us very far in terms of addressing racial injustice and addressing systemic injustice in California or in the country…”
Martin expressed other concerns; “It’s going to be big business and the small guys that have been holding it down will not find a place for themselves.”
