Each year, LAAC offers the Dan Bradley Fellowship to fund law students who want to spend their summer working at a LAAC member legal aid organization. The Fellowship is awarded to outstanding students who want to pursue a career in public interest law and who want to spend their summer working in a rural area or on a rural issue. The Dan Bradley Fellowship not only gives law students the opportunity to explore a career in legal services, it offers legal services programs a new source of dedicated and energetic summer staff.

“Working this summer at Legal Aid of Napa Valley has give me an amazing opportunity to help my community. The past couple of weeks I have worked on a wide range of legal issues from restraining order hearings to eviction defense. I have also been able to assist on the research for a Ninth Circuit appellate brief on a complex immigration case. The Dan Bradley Fellowship has allowed me to come back to he community I grew up in and help bridge the gap in access to justice.”

“In these short two weeks I have already been assigned a wage claim case, which I filed with the Labor Commissioner and attended the CRLA Labor Law Training in the Stockton office. I have also drafted an unemployment insurance benefits appeals letter and have interview three clients. The work environment is incredible welcoming, and I am learning a lot in a very short amount of time.”
